I’m a postdoctoral researcher in the Dynamic Graphics Project (DGP) Lab at University of Toronto, supervised by Alec Jacobson. My research objective is to better understand and assist visual creation. I’m currently working on projects about vector graphics, sketch processing, and image-generator-related topics.
I received my PhD from the University of British Columbia, supervised by Alla Sheffer. During my PhD, I conducted research to bridge raw freehand line drawings with precise digital representations and also to robustly generate line drawings based on 3D models. Before that, I completed my MS at Carnegie Mellon University and my BEng at Beihang University in China. I have previously interned at Adobe Research and Disney Research.
📢 I will be joining the University of Victoria as an Assistant Professor starting July 2026.
🔬 I am recruiting students and postdocs interested in image generation, 2D visual representations(e.g., vector graphics), and interactive tools for creative workflows.
🎓 Prospective students are encouraged to get in touch.
🧑🔬 For postdocs, I am primarily considering candidates with external funding or those interested in applying for funding together.
🤝 I welcome research collaborations with academic and industry partners.
